本書收集了18篇論文，研究標的以語言學理論為基礎的語言學(句法、語音、社會語言學)、華語文教學、及英語教學為範疇，論述的架構均為比較新的理論，如原住民語的句法與語音關係、優選理論在漢語的應用、空間認知的語言習得現象、英語與美語的比較研究、廣告文案中的語碼轉換，以至於華語詞表的界定等等，無不具有創新的深度與廣度，將為台灣的語言學研究與應用帶來某種程度上的影響與衝擊。
