東南亞移工、新住民因為社會文化差異，時常刻意或不經意地成為被社會壓制、歧視的族群，對於生活在台灣的外籍工作者，法律也常常背離人權社會的理想，造成更大的文化鴻溝，製造並掩蓋了台灣的人權法治假象──在抽象法律權益上的「我們＝他們」，及在現實法律世界中的「我們＞他們」。
法扶多年來保障外來人口法律權益的作為，正是「我們」視角的轉變歷程。起初以餘光瞥見「他們」，逐漸正視「他們」是站在我們面前的「你們」，一直到思索「你們」就是「我們」。只有我們的視角與心靈改變了，他們的命運才有改變的契機。法扶工作人員協助外來人口的付出，正體現了台灣社會這十年來自我視野的轉變，與彌除差異界限的希望所在。
