本書分為三部分，第一部分為“非洲農業的最新發展與內生動力”，從大陸內的政策和激勵機制、外來援助、投資與商貿合作分析以及不同層面的創新實踐進行研究；第二部分為“新興市場國家對非農業南南合作”，主要講述了巴西在安哥拉、莫三比克和馬拉維進行農業合作的不同情況；第三部分為“中國對非洲農業合作的新型實踐”，中國對非農業合作經歷了從20世紀50年代末完全不求經濟回報的單純援助，援建大型農場，到目前的援助、貿易和對外投資並舉的階段。
