本書圖文並舉，目的在於讓讀者從形、色、香、雅等四個方面，逐件地欣賞漆器藏品，同時感受中國傳統漆器文化知識的樂趣。書中展示了民間收藏的百餘件漆器精品，使用中英文雙語的說明、闡述，以饗海內外讀者。文字中對器物所作的描述均屬作者對實物反覆把玩、零距離觀察的寫實，斷無虛言；漆器文化史知識的介紹也是以時間為經，以地域為緯，力求邏輯清晰，簡短精微；為了方便查閱，我們還為讀者準備了“術語說明”，企望為讀者營造一種輕鬆自在、隨手拈來的沙龍氣氛。
